Privacy Policy
CanBake is built local-first. Your recipes, ingredients, and schedules are stored on your device and stay there. Signing in is optional, and its only purpose is to sync a copy of your data so your other devices can read it.
Who is responsible for your data
CanBake is published by Theerapat Yimsirikul. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact contact@canbake.app.
What CanBake collects
What is collected depends entirely on whether you sign in.
If you never sign in
Your baking data never leaves your device. CanBake does not require an account to be fully usable.
If you sign in to sync
| Data | Why | Leaves your device |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and account identifier from Google or Apple | To identify your account so your devices reach the same data | Yes |
| Recipes, ingredients, schedules, reminders, and baking history | To sync your baking data between your own devices | Yes |
| Photos you attach to recipes and ingredients | To show your pictures on your other devices | Yes |
| App usage events, such as which screens are opened | To understand which features are used and find problems | Yes |
| App settings and preferences | To keep the app behaving the way you set it up | No |
If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email address, CanBake receives only Apple's relay address and never sees your real one.
What CanBake does not do
- Your data is never sold.
- Your data is never shared with advertisers, and CanBake shows no ads.
- You are not tracked across other apps or websites.
- Your recipes are never read, published, or shared with other CanBake users.
Who processes your data
CanBake uses Google Firebase to provide sign-in, syncing, photo storage, and usage analytics. Firebase acts as a processor on CanBake's behalf, and data may be stored on Google servers outside your country. Google's handling of this data is described in the Firebase privacy documentation.
Sign-in is handled by Google or Apple depending on which you choose. CanBake receives only your email address and an account identifier from them, never your password.
How long data is kept
Synced data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is removed permanently, as described below. Usage analytics are retained by Firebase for up to 14 months and are not linked to your recipes.
When you delete your account, CanBake also resets the anonymous identifier its usage analytics are attached to, so activity recorded after the deletion cannot be connected to activity recorded before it.
Deleting your data
You can delete your CanBake account from inside the app at any time:
- Open CanBake and go to the Account screen.
- Choose Delete account.
- Read the confirmation and confirm.
This permanently removes your cloud account, every synced record, and every photo you uploaded. It cannot be undone.
Your recipes stay on your device. Deleting your account removes your data from the cloud only. Everything on the device you are using remains, and you can keep using CanBake without an account.
If you cannot access the app, email contact@canbake.app and your account will be deleted on request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or erase the data held about you, and to object to its processing. CanBake honours these requests at the address above. Because the app is local-first, most of your data is already fully under your control on your own device.
Children
CanBake is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, the updated policy will be posted here with a new date at the top.
